Summer = pitta season

 We have now passed midsummer, and summer is in full bloom. This means that we have entered the part of the year dominated by pitta dosha. Pitta is the hot, sharp, energetic dosha. The summers in Sweden are not particularly hot when compared to most other countries. But it is still now that pitta is at its highest in nature, and therefore it may be appropriate to take the following advice into account. Especially if you have a lot of pitta in your basic constitution or previous imbalances in pitta:

• Exercise regularly, but do not overexert yourself and make sure not to overheat, protect yourself from too strong sunlight. Swimming is great now, when possible. Playful exercise without performance requirements is best.

• Drink plenty of water, warm or room temperature, never ice cold.

• Sweet, juicy fruits such as melons, pears, plums and grapes are good for balancing pitta.

• Prioritise clean, simple, organic food without artificial additives. And avoid alcohol.

• Eat at regular times, never skip meals.

• Go to bed early.

• Drink a cup of boiled warm milk with cardamom and some organic rose water or rose petal paste before going to bed.

• Enjoy our beautiful country in its summer glory. Be outside in the beautiful nature as much as you can. Beautiful sights are very balancing for pitta.

• Appreciate the little joys in life. Don't get upset about things that are not perfect in your life or in the world.

• Try to relax now during the summer. Take real time off when you can, without work, mobile phones, etc. Spend time with people you like. Swim, laugh, play and enjoy the summer.
