Food at the right time of day

In Ayurveda, the wisdom of food unfolds through the understanding that it has different effects at different times. 🌱 Nature operates in harmonious cycles, and these rhythms are reflected in the three doshas.

From 06-10, as kapha governs the morning, breakfast shouldn't be too heavy, but it shouldn't be skipped either. 🍏 If you are not hungry or if you have much kapha in your constitution, a boiled apple sprinkled with cinnamon can nourish and energise your metabolism. If your appetite calls for something more, hearty porridge is a wonderful choice. 🥣

From 10-14, the vibrant energy of pitta peaks, making it the ideal time for your main meal. 🍽️ Honour this tradition, rooted in the rhythms of nature, as your digestion thrives during these hours. Enjoy slightly heavier foods without worry, as your body is ready to embrace them.

From 14-18, with vata's lightness taking over, it's wiser to keep meals minimal. Should hunger strike, a simple fruit can be refreshing. 🍎

As the clock turns to 18-22, kapha energy invites you to share a lighter evening meal. 🍲 Opt for warm, well-cooked dishes like soothing soup, and dine early to allow time for digestion before bedtime. A comforting cup of boiled, warm milk can also be nurturing just before bedtime if vata and pitta are prominent in your constitution. 🥛

From 22-02, pitta returns to cleanse and revitalise the body from within. 🌙 Respect this sacred time by refraining from food, allowing the cleansing process to unfold.

Finally, from 02-06, as vata ushers in the new day, your body prepares for the activities ahead, though it's not yet time for a meal. ☀️

Beyond the hours of the day, the seasons of life and nature's cycles also shape our relationship with food. 🌍 Stay tuned for more insights on this journey!
